The Mix is a series in which historical Dutch photography is used as inspiration for new work. It always concerns genres in which Dutch photographers excel, such as documentary photography, portraits, landscapes and photojournalism. You see typical Dutch, regional and local subjects. Stichting Beeldmix and Museum Hilversum are jointly organising the major retrospective exhibition Vier de Beeldmix – Dutch photographers of the past and present. This exhibition is the final part of a series of twelve exhibitions that celebrate the versatility of Dutch photography. In Museum Hilversum and at NS Station Hilversum, past and present come together in a unique visual story full of angles, themes and voices.

Vier de Beeldmix shows how rich and diverse Dutch autonomous photography is. The photos provide a new perspective on current topics such as energy transition, liveability, inclusivity, diversity, gender equality, artificial intelligence, nature, water management, sustainability, circularity and social and innovative play.
